Bonsai trees can be classified according to their size.
They are traditionally divided as follows:
Miniature Bonsai
- Keshitsubo: 1-3”
- Shito: 2-4”
- Mame: 2-6”
- Shohin: 5-8”
- Komono: 6-10”
Medium-size Bonsai
- Katade-mochi: 10-18”
- Chumono / Chiu: 16-36”
Large Bonsai
- Omono / Dai: 30-48”
- Hachi-uye: 40-60”
- Imperial: 60-80”
